The most popular species are flamingos, cauquenes, bandurrias and teros. It is located on the shores of Lake Argentino and it has the characteristic dry vegetation of the region preserved.
El Chalten, trekking capital
Located 220km from Calafate and at the foot of the most famous mountain range of Argentina we can find the town of Chalten. It is an ideal destination for hikers and climbers, as it has several self-guided trails to visit glaciers, forests, rivers and waterfalls.
Buses, combis and remis arrived daily to the town and on the way it is usual to stop and visit La Leona Estancia, an icon of the region.
It is also possible to visit the Viedma Glacier, located at the entrance of the village, another of the largest glaciers in Argentina.
